A chipped front tooth from a long-ago softball game, a gap that shows up in every photo, enamel that has dulled after decades of coffee — these are the kinds of details people bring to us when they ask about changing their smile. Cosmetic dentistry is the part of our work focused on how your teeth look: their color, shape, size, alignment, and the way your gum line frames them. It often overlaps with restorative care, because a tooth that looks better usually functions better too, and our team plans treatment with both in mind.

Cosmetic dentistry covers a range of treatments, from conservative polishing and whitening to comprehensive smile design. Teeth whitening is often the simplest starting point, and we offer both in-office whitening and take-home options so you can choose the pace that fits your schedule. Composite bonding uses tooth-colored material to repair a chip, close a small gap, or reshape an uneven edge, usually in a single visit. Porcelain veneers are thin custom facings bonded to the front of the teeth, suited to patients who want to change color, shape, and proportion together. For teeth that are heavily worn, cracked, or already restored, crowns, onlays, and other restorations rebuild strength while matching the surrounding teeth.

Sometimes the gums, not the teeth, are what a patient notices first. We perform cosmetic gum contouring, gingivectomy, and crown lengthening for smiles that show more gum tissue than a patient would like, or where the gum line sits unevenly across the front teeth. Alignment matters too, and Invisalign and other clear aligners let adults and teens straighten teeth without the appearance of traditional brackets. When teeth are missing, dental implants, bridges, implant-supported bridges, and full arch options restore both the look and the function of a complete smile.

Most healthy adults are candidates for some form of cosmetic treatment, but the right starting point depends on what is happening underneath. Active decay, gum disease, or an infected tooth is addressed first — cosmetic work placed over an unstable foundation will not hold up. That is why a cosmetic visit with us begins with a full exam, including oral cancer screening, so we can see the whole picture before recommending anything.

Grinding and clenching are another common consideration. If you wake with a sore jaw or we see flat, worn edges on your teeth, we may discuss a custom night guard or TMJ/TMD therapy alongside cosmetic treatment to protect the result. We also offer cosmetic smile-design consultations, where we talk through what bothers you, what is realistic, and how treatments can be sequenced over time rather than all at once. For patients who feel anxious in a dental chair, nitrous oxide and oral sedation are available.

A few things worth knowing before you begin:

  • Whitening lightens natural enamel but does not change the color of existing crowns, veneers, or bonding, so sequencing matters.
  • Veneers and crowns involve preparing the tooth, which is not reversible.
  • Our on-site dental lab allows same-day crowns and fast denture repairs, which can shorten treatment timelines considerably.
  • Insurance typically covers restorative needs more readily than purely cosmetic ones; we can help clarify this before treatment.

Aftercare and How Long Results Last

Caring for cosmetic work is not complicated, but it is consistent. Brushing twice daily, flossing, and keeping regular cleanings and exams protect both the restorations and the gum tissue around them. Bonding and whitened enamel both respond to staining foods and drinks — coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco — so moderation and routine hygiene visits help the color last. Take-home whitening trays can be used for periodic touch-ups.

Porcelain and composite are strong but not indestructible. We ask patients to avoid chewing ice, pens, or fingernails and to wear a night guard if grinding is a factor. If a restoration chips or an edge feels rough, call us; small repairs are far easier than replacements. Sports mouth guards are available for athletes of any age.

Payment, Financing, and Scheduling

We accept all major PPO insurance plans and welcome self-pay and cash patients. Flexible payment plans are available, which many patients use to phase larger cosmetic or full mouth rehabilitation plans into manageable stages. We will give you a clear picture of costs before treatment starts.
