About Ocala Dental
A tooth cracks on a Sunday afternoon at a family cookout. A denture snaps in half the morning of a grandchild's graduation. A molar that has ached quietly for weeks finally becomes impossible to ignore. These are the moments that bring most people through our doors in Ocala — not a long-planned decision, but a sudden one. For more than 30 years, we've built our days around being the place that can answer those calls, and around being the place patients come back to long after the emergency has passed.
Our roots in Ocala run deep. Over three decades of practicing general, restorative, and cosmetic dentistry here means we've cleaned the teeth of children who now bring us their own children, and we've helped families through everything from a first set of sealants to a full mouth reconstruction. That long view shapes how we practice. We're not interested in treating a single tooth and sending you on your way; we want to understand the whole mouth, the habits behind the problem, and what you hope your smile looks and feels like five or ten years from now.
One of the things that makes our office unusual is our on-site dental lab. Most dental offices send crowns, dentures, and repairs out to an off-site laboratory, which means temporary restorations, extra appointments, and days or weeks of waiting. Because our lab is right here in the building, we're able to offer same-day crowns, dentures, and denture repairs. If your denture breaks, you may not have to go without it. If you need a crown, there's a good chance you can walk out with the finished restoration rather than a temporary one.
Patients often tell us they've been putting off dental care because they weren't sure where to start, or because they assumed they'd be bounced from specialist to specialist. That's a fair concern, and it's one we've worked hard to address. Our office handles a wide range of care under one roof — general and preventive dentistry, root canal therapy on front teeth, premolars, and molars, oral surgery including simple and surgical extractions and wisdom teeth removal, periodontal care, orthodontics with clear aligners and Invisalign, prosthodontics, and treatment for jaw pain and TMJ disorders. We accept patients for these services without requiring a referral.
A first visit usually begins with a conversation before anything else. We want to hear what's bothering you, what you've been told before, and what your goals are. From there we complete a dental exam, which may include an oral cancer screening, and we explain what we see in plain language — no jargon, no pressure. If treatment is needed, we lay out the options, including what happens if you choose to wait.
Here's what patients can generally expect from us:
- Care for all ages, from children's cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, and space maintainers to adult restorative and cosmetic work
- Emergency appointments, including same-day emergency visits for traumatic dental injuries, cracked teeth, and sudden pain
- Comfort options such as nitrous oxide sedation and oral sedation dentistry for patients who feel anxious in the chair
- Clear explanations of findings, options, and costs before treatment begins
- Same-day lab work for many crowns, dentures, and denture repairs
The Team and the Philosophy Behind the Care
Our dentists, Dr. Hussein Salifu and Dr. Marco Geris, lead a team that includes a dental hygienist on staff and the lab technicians who craft restorations here in our office. We're members of the FDA and the Central Florida District Dental Association, and we take that professional community seriously — dentistry changes, and staying connected keeps us sharp.
Philosophically, we believe the most important work we do is preventive. A thorough cleaning, a careful exam, and an honest conversation about brushing, grinding, or a tooth that's showing early wear will save far more teeth than any crown we place. When restorative work is necessary, we'd rather do it well once than do it twice. And when someone has lost teeth, we want them to be able to eat comfortably and smile without thinking about it — whether that means a bridge, a partial, implant-supported dentures, or full arch dental implants.
Serving Ocala and the Surrounding Communities
While we're based in Ocala, patients travel to us from Belleview, Silver Springs, The Villages, Dunnellon, Fort McCoy, Lady Lake, Marion Oaks, McIntosh, Oxford, Reddick, Summerfield, and Weirsdale. Many of our neighbors in The Villages and Lady Lake come to us for denture work and implant-supported options; families from Belleview and Marion Oaks often come for children's preventive care and orthodontics. We accept orthodontic transfer patients and will provide retainers for patients who completed treatment elsewhere.
We also know that the practical side of dental care matters as much as the clinical side. We accept all major PPO insurance plans, welcome self-pay and cash patients, and offer flexible payment plans. For our endodontic, surgical, orthodontic, periodontal, orofacial pain, and prosthodontic services, we file insurance claims as a general practitioner, which often simplifies things for patients. If you're unsure how your coverage applies, ask us — we'd rather help you sort it out before treatment than surprise you afterward.
