Snap In Dentures in Reddick

You slide your lower denture back into place for the third time during lunch, and you're done. For many of our Reddick patients, that moment — a denture that rocks, slips, or needs adhesive just to make it through a meal — is what finally brings them in. Snap in dentures solve that problem directly by anchoring the denture to dental implants in the jaw, so it stays put until you take it out.
A snap in denture is a removable full or partial denture that clips onto implants placed in the jawbone. The implants act as roots, and the underside of the denture holds attachments that snap onto them. You still take the denture out to clean it, but while it's in, it's held by the implants rather than by suction, gum tissue, or adhesive paste.
This is different from a conventional complete denture, which rests on the ridge, and different from a fixed implant bridge, which only we remove. Snap in dentures sit between the two. They're often the right answer for patients who have lost bone height in the lower jaw — where traditional dentures tend to loosen most — or who want the stability of implants with the easier daily cleaning of a removable appliance. We also provide conventional complete and partial dentures, fixed implant-supported bridges, and full arch implant options, so the conversation starts with what fits your mouth and your life, not with a single product.
Most people who are missing all or most of their teeth in an arch, or who are facing the removal of failing teeth, can be considered. The main requirements are healthy gum tissue and enough bone to support implants. When bone volume is thin, bone grafting or sinus lift surgery can often build the site up first — both of which we perform here.
Candidacy also depends on gum health. Active gum disease needs to be treated before implants go in, and we handle that in-house with scaling and root planing, periodontal therapy, and ongoing periodontal maintenance. If teeth still need to come out, we perform simple and surgical extractions, and we accept patients without a referral for our periodontal, surgical, and prosthodontic care. Nitrous oxide and oral sedation are available for patients who feel anxious about any part of treatment.
We see all ages at our Ocala office, and Reddick patients are a regular part of our day — many combine a snap in denture appointment with cleanings or exams for the rest of the family in the same visit.
What the Process Looks Like
It begins with an exam, imaging, and a frank discussion of options, costs, and timing. If extractions or grafting are needed, those come first, with healing time built into the plan. Next, we place the implants — typically two or more per arch, depending on your anatomy and the design of the denture. After the implants integrate with the bone, we add the attachments and fit the denture that snaps onto them.
Our on-site dental lab is a real advantage during this phase. Because we fabricate and adjust dentures in the building, fittings, relines, and repairs don't require shipping your denture out and waiting. That matters more than it sounds when you're driving in from Reddick: fewer trips, shorter turnarounds, and the ability to solve a sore spot or a loose clip the same day in many cases.
Here's what Reddick patients can generally expect along the way:
- A consultation covering implant count, denture design, and a written treatment sequence
- Any needed extractions, gum treatment, or bone grafting before implant placement
- Implant placement, followed by a healing period while the bone integrates
- Fitting of the snap in denture, with adjustments made in our on-site lab
- Follow-up visits for comfort checks, attachment replacement, and implant maintenance
Daily Care and Long-Term Maintenance
Take the denture out each night. Clean it, clean the attachments, and brush around the implant posts the way you would natural teeth. Gums need a rest period, and the implant sites need to stay free of plaque — that's the single biggest factor in how well the whole system holds up.
The nylon or rubber inserts that create the "snap" wear down with use and get replaced periodically; that's normal, not a failure. We provide implant maintenance visits where we check the fit, the attachments, and the health of the tissue around each implant. We also repair and replace existing dentures, including ones made elsewhere, and we offer emergency appointments if something breaks unexpectedly.
Insurance, Payment, and Getting Started
We accept all major PPO insurance plans and file claims as a General Practitioner. We also welcome self-pay and cash patients, and we offer flexible payment plans so treatment can be spread out rather than paid all at once. Because snap in dentures involve several stages, we go over the cost of each phase before you commit to it.
Ocala Dental Care has practiced general, restorative, and cosmetic dentistry here for over 30 years, and we're members of the FDA and the Central Florida District Dental Association.
