Veneers in Marion Oaks

Veneers in Marion Oaks

Maybe it's a front tooth that chipped years ago and has been bothering you in every photo since. Maybe it's the gray shadow on a tooth that never quite matched its neighbors, or the small gaps and worn edges that have crept in over time. For many of the Marion Oaks patients we see, the teeth are healthy — they just don't look the way they used to. Veneers are often the answer in those situations, and they're one of the cosmetic treatments we've refined over more than 30 years of caring for families across Marion County.

A veneer is a thin shell bonded to the visible front surface of a tooth. Instead of rebuilding the whole tooth the way a crown does, a veneer resurfaces what you see when you smile, correcting color, shape, length, and alignment all at once. We offer two kinds at our office, and the right choice depends on your goals, your bite, and your budget.

Porcelain veneers are custom-crafted shells made from dental ceramic. Porcelain reflects light in a way that closely mimics natural enamel, and it resists staining from coffee, tea, and red wine. Because the material is strong and color-stable, porcelain is often the choice for patients treating several front teeth at once or wanting the longest-lasting cosmetic result. Composite veneers are built from tooth-colored resin — the same family of material used in composite bonding — shaped and polished directly on the tooth. Composite typically involves less tooth preparation, can often be completed in fewer appointments, and is usually the more economical option. It's a good fit for single-tooth corrections, minor chips, or patients who want to test a cosmetic change before committing to porcelain. Composite can pick up stain over time and may need occasional polishing or repair, which we're happy to handle here.

Good candidates for veneers have healthy gums and sound underlying teeth. If we find decay, a cracked tooth, or gum disease during your exam, we address that first — we provide fillings, root canal therapy, scaling and root planing, gum grafting, and periodontal care in the same office, so there's no need to be referred elsewhere and no need to drive to multiple practices.

Veneers work well for a wide range of concerns we hear from Marion Oaks patients:

  • Chipped, worn, or uneven front teeth
  • Deep discoloration that whitening can't lift
  • Small spaces or gaps between teeth
  • Teeth that are slightly rotated, short, or misshapen
  • Smiles where crown or bridge work needs a cosmetic match

If your teeth are significantly crowded or your bite is off, we may suggest Invisalign or clear aligners first, or a combination approach. Patients who clench or grind are usually still candidates — we often pair veneers with a night guard to protect the investment.

What the Process Looks Like

Your first visit is a conversation and an evaluation. We examine your teeth and gums, take any images we need, and talk through what's realistically achievable. Our cosmetic smile-design consultations are where shade, tooth length, and overall proportions get decided — this is the planning stage, and we'd rather spend time here than surprise you later.

For porcelain, we prepare the teeth conservatively, take impressions, and place temporaries while your veneers are fabricated. Our on-site dental lab is a real advantage here: having lab capability in the building means closer coordination on shade and shape and fewer delays than sending work far away. At the seating appointment, we try the veneers in, check fit and color with you, and bond them in place. Composite veneers are usually sculpted chairside in a single visit, layered and polished until the shape looks right to both of us. For anxious patients, we offer nitrous oxide and oral sedation.

Caring for Veneers and Planning the Cost

Veneers are cared for much like natural teeth: brush twice daily, floss around each one, and keep up with cleanings and exams with our hygienist. Avoid using your front teeth as tools — opening packaging, biting nails, chewing ice — and wear a night guard if you grind. Composite veneers benefit from periodic polishing; porcelain holds its luster well but still needs healthy gums underneath.

We accept all major PPO insurance plans and self-pay patients, and we offer flexible payment plans so cosmetic work can be scheduled on a timeline that works for your household. Cosmetic coverage varies by plan, so our front desk reviews your benefits and gives you clear numbers before treatment begins.

Marion Oaks patients of all ages are welcome, and we also offer emergency appointments if a front tooth chips unexpectedly. Call Ocala Dental Care to schedule a veneer consultation with Dr. Salifu or Dr. Geris.
