Dental Fillings in Lady Lake

Dental Fillings in Lady Lake

A small cavity rarely announces itself. More often it shows up as a flicker of sensitivity to cold water, a rough spot your tongue keeps finding, or a shadow on an X-ray during a routine exam. Treating decay early with a dental filling is one of the most straightforward ways to keep a tooth intact — and it's one of the most common reasons Lady Lake patients come to see us.

A filling repairs a tooth after decay has broken through the outer enamel. We remove the damaged portion, clean the area thoroughly, and rebuild the tooth with a material that restores its shape, bite, and strength. The goal is simple: stop the decay from spreading deeper toward the nerve, and give you back a tooth that chews and feels normal.

Fillings also handle more than classic cavities. We use composite bonding materials to repair small chips, worn edges, and areas where old restorations have begun to leak or wear down. If a tooth has lost too much structure for a filling to hold up, we'll talk with you honestly about alternatives such as an onlay or a crown — and because we have an on-site dental lab, crowns can often be completed the same day rather than spread across multiple visits.

For Lady Lake families, that matters. Many of our patients drive over from Lady Lake for care, and we schedule with that in mind, grouping treatment where it's appropriate so you're not making trip after trip for one tooth.

Most people with early or moderate decay are good candidates. If you've noticed sensitivity to hot, cold, or sweets, food catching in a particular spot, a visible dark line or pit, or a filling that feels chipped or sharp, a filling is often the right answer. Sometimes there are no symptoms at all, which is why we rely on a thorough dental exam and X-rays rather than discomfort alone.

Candidacy depends on how far the decay has traveled. When decay reaches the nerve, a filling alone won't resolve the problem, and we'd discuss root canal therapy followed by a restoration. If a tooth is cracked or has been injured, we evaluate that separately — we treat cracked teeth and traumatic dental injuries, and we offer emergency appointments when something can't wait.

  • We treat patients of all ages, adults and children alike
  • Same-day availability for dental emergencies, including broken or painful teeth
  • On-site lab support when a filling isn't enough and a crown is the better choice
  • Fluoride treatments and sealants to help protect teeth that are at higher risk
  • No referral needed — you can call us directly

What the Appointment Looks Like

We start by confirming the diagnosis and reviewing what we see with you, so there are no surprises about which teeth we're treating and why. The area is then numbed, and we remove the decayed tooth structure. If you're anxious about dental work, we offer nitrous oxide sedation and oral sedation, and we're glad to talk through those options before the day of treatment rather than in the chair.

Once the tooth is clean, we place and shape the filling material, cure it, and then check your bite carefully. A filling that sits even slightly high can cause soreness for weeks, so we take the time to adjust it until your teeth come together comfortably. Most single fillings are finished in one visit.

Afterward, your lip and cheek may stay numb for a couple of hours — avoid chewing on that side until sensation returns, especially for children. Mild sensitivity to temperature for a few days is common and usually settles on its own. If your bite still feels off after the numbness wears off, call us; that's a quick adjustment, not something to live with. Brushing twice daily, flossing, and keeping up with cleanings and periodontal care are what make a filling last.

Insurance, Payment, and Getting Scheduled

We accept all major PPO insurance plans and file claims as a General Practitioner. If you're self-pay, we welcome cash patients and will give you a clear picture of costs before treatment begins. For larger treatment plans — say, several fillings at once, or a filling that turns out to need a crown — we offer flexible payment plans so you can move forward without delaying care.

Our team has practiced general, restorative, and cosmetic dentistry in Ocala for more than 30 years, and we're members of the FDA and the Central Florida District Dental Association. Dr. Hussein Salifu and Dr. Marco Geris see Lady Lake patients for everything from a single small filling to full restorative care. If a tooth has been bothering you, give us a call and we'll find a time that works.
