Dentures in Belleview

A loose partial that clicks when you talk, a back tooth that finally cracked beyond repair, or a full upper denture made years ago that no longer fits the way it used to — these are the situations that bring many of our Belleview patients through our doors. Some have been managing with a few missing teeth for years and are tired of chewing on one side. Others are facing the decision to remove teeth weakened by gum disease and want to know what comes next. Dentures answer both situations, and with our on-site dental lab, we can design, adjust, and repair them without sending your case across the country.

A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and the surrounding tissue. We provide two conventional types, and the right one depends on how many natural teeth remain and what condition they are in.

A complete denture replaces a full arch — all the upper teeth, all the lower teeth, or both. It rests directly on the gum ridge and is shaped to support the lips and cheeks, which is why a well-made complete denture also restores facial fullness that can be lost after teeth are gone. Complete dentures suit patients who have already lost an entire arch or who need remaining teeth removed because of advanced decay or periodontal disease.

A partial denture fills in gaps while your healthy natural teeth stay in place. It uses the remaining teeth for support and stability, so it tends to feel more secure from the start than a full denture. Partials suit patients missing several teeth in one arch who still have sound anchor teeth. Keeping those teeth also helps preserve bone and prevents the neighboring teeth from drifting into open spaces. When even more support is wanted, we also offer implant-supported dentures and snap-in dentures, which anchor to dental implants instead of resting on the gums alone.

Being a good candidate starts with an exam. We evaluate your remaining teeth, the health of your gums, the shape of your ridges, and how your jaw comes together. If gum disease is present, we treat it first — our periodontal services include scaling and root planing and gum disease treatment. If teeth need to come out, we handle both simple and surgical extractions in-house, along with bone grafting when the ridge needs rebuilding.

From there, the denture process moves in steps. We take impressions and bite records, then our lab fabricates a try-in so you can see the tooth shape, shade, and arrangement before anything is finalized. You tell us what looks right. Once approved, the finished denture is delivered and adjusted. Because the lab is on site, adjustments that often take weeks elsewhere can frequently be handled far more quickly — a genuine convenience for Belleview patients who would rather not make repeated trips.

What we look at during your consultation:

  • How many teeth remain and whether any can be saved
  • Gum and bone health, including whether grafting is needed
  • Your bite, jaw comfort, and any clicking or limited movement
  • Whether a conventional or implant-supported option fits your goals
  • Your insurance coverage and preferred payment arrangement

Settling In and Caring for Your Dentures

New dentures take practice. The first days usually involve extra saliva, a learning curve with speech, and soft foods while you adapt. We ask you to cut food into small pieces and chew evenly on both sides. Sore spots are normal early on, and they are easily relieved with a short adjustment appointment — please don't try to file or reshape a denture at home.

Long term, clean your dentures daily, leave them out overnight unless we advise otherwise, and keep your regular exams with us. We check the fit, examine your gums and ridges, and include an oral cancer screening. Gums change shape over the years, so relines and repairs are a normal part of denture ownership. We repair and replace existing dentures, including ones made elsewhere, and our lab makes same-day denture repairs possible in many cases.
