Laser Dentistry in Reddick

Laser Dentistry in Reddick

A Reddick patient comes in because the gums around two lower teeth bleed every time they brush, and they've been putting off treatment for years because the idea of cutting and stitches makes them uneasy. That's a very common story in our office, and it's one of the reasons we use dental lasers. A laser lets us treat gum tissue precisely, often with less bleeding and less discomfort than traditional instruments — which makes it easier for hesitant patients to finally say yes to the care they need.

Laser dentistry uses a focused beam of light energy to treat soft tissue in the mouth. Instead of relying only on a scalpel or a traditional hand instrument, we can shape, remove, or disinfect tissue with a tool that works in very small, controlled increments. Because the laser works with such precision, we can often limit how much healthy tissue is affected, and many patients notice less bleeding during the procedure and less soreness afterward.

For our Reddick patients, laser dentistry is rarely a standalone treatment. It's a tool we fold into the care we already provide — gum disease treatment, scaling and root planing, periodontal maintenance, gum contouring, gingivectomy, and crown lengthening. If you're having a crown made in our on-site lab and the gum line needs to be reshaped so the restoration fits and looks right, the laser is often how we do that. If you've been diagnosed with periodontal disease and need deep cleaning below the gum line, laser treatment can be part of that plan as well.

Most adults who need soft-tissue gum care are candidates. That includes people with bleeding, swollen, or receding gums; patients who have been told they have periodontal pockets; and patients who want cosmetic gum contouring because their smile looks uneven or "gummy." It also includes patients preparing for restorative work — crowns, bridges, veneers, or implants — where the gum line needs to be adjusted first.

We see all ages here, and we treat both children and adults. Before recommending laser treatment, we do a full dental exam, review your health history and current medications, and talk through what you want out of your smile. Some conditions are better addressed with traditional periodontal surgery or gum grafting, and we'll tell you plainly if that's the case. We also offer nitrous oxide sedation and oral sedation for patients whose anxiety has kept them out of the chair, and those options can be combined with laser treatment.

What to Expect, From First Visit Through Healing

Your first appointment is an evaluation. We examine your gums, measure pocket depths where needed, take any necessary images, and include an oral cancer screening as part of a thorough look at your mouth. From there we explain what we found, what the laser can and can't do for your situation, and what the sequence of visits would look like.

  • A clear explanation of your diagnosis and the treatment options before anything begins
  • Local anesthetic for comfort, with nitrous oxide or oral sedation available if you'd like it
  • Precise soft-tissue treatment with the laser, often with less bleeding than traditional methods
  • Simple written aftercare instructions you can take home to Reddick with you
  • A follow-up plan, including periodontal maintenance visits when gum disease is involved

Aftercare is usually straightforward. We'll typically ask you to stick with soft foods for a short period, avoid anything sharp, crunchy, or very hot near the treated area, and keep the site clean using the specific technique we show you. Mild tenderness is normal. We'll let you know what's expected and what warrants a call to us, and we'll schedule a check to confirm the tissue is healing the way it should. If gum disease was the reason for treatment, ongoing periodontal maintenance is what protects the result long term.

Convenient, Comprehensive Care for Reddick Families

Reddick patients often prefer having one office handle everything rather than being referred around. We're built for that. Our team includes Dr. Hussein Salifu and Dr. Marco Geris, and we handle general, restorative, and cosmetic dentistry under one roof — including periodontal care, implants, root canals, orthodontics with clear aligners and Invisalign, and prosthodontic work. Our on-site dental lab allows for same-day crowns, dentures, and denture repairs, which can mean fewer trips in from Reddick. We also offer emergency dental appointments when something can't wait.

Insurance, Self-Pay, and Payment Plans

We accept all major PPO insurance plans and file claims as a general practice. We also welcome self-pay and cash patients, and we're glad to go over estimated costs before you commit to treatment.

If the plan is more involved — laser gum treatment combined with crown lengthening and a new restoration, for example — we offer flexible payment plans so you can move forward on a schedule that works for your budget. Ocala Dental Care has served this area for over 30 years, and we're a member of the FDA and the Central Florida District Dental Association. Call us to schedule your evaluation.
