Dentures in Reddick

A denture that clicks when you talk, a partial that no longer snaps into place, or a handful of teeth that have been failing one by one — these are the situations that bring people to us from Reddick every week. Sometimes it's a brand-new conversation about replacing teeth for the first time. Sometimes it's a 10-year-old denture that broke at breakfast. Either way, our on-site dental lab means we can often handle the fabrication and repair work right here, instead of mailing your case away and leaving you waiting.
Dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth, built on a gum-colored base that rests on the ridges of your jaw. We provide two main types. A complete denture replaces all of the teeth in an arch and suits patients who have already lost their upper or lower teeth, or whose remaining teeth can no longer be saved. A partial denture fills in gaps when you still have healthy natural teeth; it clasps or rests against those teeth, keeping them from drifting into the open space while restoring chewing and appearance.
Choosing between the two usually comes down to what's still in your mouth and what can be preserved. We generally prefer to keep healthy natural teeth, so if several sound teeth remain, a partial is often the more conservative route. If the remaining teeth are badly broken down or affected by advanced gum disease, a complete denture may be the more stable long-term answer. We also offer implant-supported dentures and snap-in dentures for patients who want more retention than a conventional denture provides — a common request from people who struggle with a lower denture that won't stay put.
Most Reddick patients who come to us about dentures fall into a few groups. There are longtime denture wearers whose appliance has worn, cracked, or stopped fitting as the jaw ridge has changed shape over the years. There are patients facing extractions who want a plan in place before the teeth come out. And there are people who have been managing with missing back teeth for years and are finally tired of chewing on one side.
Good candidacy starts with an exam. We look at your remaining teeth, the condition of your gums and bone, and how your jaws come together. If gum disease is present, we treat it first — we provide scaling and root planing, periodontal maintenance, and gum surgery in house. If a tooth is cracked or infected but worth saving, root canal therapy may keep it available as an anchor for a partial. If teeth need to come out, we perform both simple and surgical extractions, and we offer nitrous oxide and oral sedation for patients who feel uneasy about treatment.
- A full exam, including an oral cancer screening, before any decisions are made
- A clear explanation of complete, partial, and implant-supported options and what each involves
- Impressions and bite records used to build your denture
- Try-in appointments to check fit, bite, and the look of the teeth before finalizing
- Adjustment visits after delivery, plus ongoing repairs and relines as needed
How The Process Works And What Aftercare Looks Like
After the initial exam and any preparatory treatment, we take impressions of your ridges and record how your upper and lower jaws meet. Those records go to our on-site lab. For most patients there's a try-in stage, where you see the teeth set in wax and tell us what you think about the shade, the shape, and how the smile looks before anything is finished. That step matters — it's much easier to change a tooth position then than afterward.
New dentures take practice. The first weeks involve learning to eat and speak with them, and sore spots are normal; that's what adjustment visits are for. Long term, take the denture out at night, clean it daily, and keep coming in for exams so we can check the fit, your gum tissue, and any remaining natural teeth. Because gums and bone continue to change, relines or a remake become necessary over time. We also repair and replace dentures made elsewhere, often quickly thanks to the lab on site.
