Veneers in Fort McCoy

A chipped front tooth, a stubborn stain that whitening won't lift, a gap that's bothered you since high school — these are the everyday reasons people in Fort McCoy ask us about veneers. Veneers are thin shells bonded to the front surfaces of your teeth, and they're one of the most direct ways to change the shape, color, size, or alignment of the teeth that show when you smile. We've been doing general, restorative, and cosmetic dentistry in Ocala for over 30 years, and Fort McCoy patients make the short trip to us regularly for exactly this kind of work.
We offer two kinds of veneers: porcelain and composite. Porcelain veneers are custom-made ceramic shells. They resist staining well, reflect light in a way that closely mimics natural enamel, and are generally the choice when you want a long-lasting change across several front teeth. Because they're fabricated rather than sculpted in the mouth, they involve lab work — and our on-site dental lab keeps that process under our own roof rather than sending your case out of town.
Composite veneers are built from tooth-colored resin applied and shaped directly on the tooth, in the chair. They typically require less preparation of the natural tooth and can often be completed in fewer visits, which suits patients addressing one or two teeth, working within a tighter budget, or wanting a more conservative starting point. Composite can be repaired or added to more easily, while porcelain holds its polish and color better over time. Many Fort McCoy patients come in unsure which they want; we talk through both and let the condition of your teeth and your goals decide.
Good candidates for veneers have healthy teeth and gums underneath. Veneers cover the front of a tooth — they don't treat decay or gum disease, so if we find either during your exam, we take care of that first. We offer gum disease treatment, scaling and root planing, and fillings in-house, so addressing those issues doesn't mean a referral somewhere else.
Veneers are a good fit for a range of situations we see often:
- Teeth that are permanently discolored or don't respond to whitening
- Chips, worn edges, or small fractures on front teeth
- Small gaps between teeth you'd rather close cosmetically
- Teeth that are slightly misshapen, undersized, or uneven
- Smiles where crowns, bonding, or clear aligners might be a better answer — which we'll tell you honestly
If you grind or clench your teeth, we'll discuss that before anything else, since grinding puts stress on veneers. We treat TMJ and jaw-related pain and make night guards, so that conversation happens in the same office. And if your concerns are more about tooth position than tooth appearance, Invisalign and clear aligners may get you closer to what you want.
What the Process Looks Like
Your first visit is an exam and a cosmetic smile-design consultation. We look at your teeth, your bite, and the way your smile frames your face, then discuss shade, shape, and how many teeth to include. Some people want two teeth matched; others want a broader change across the upper front teeth.
For porcelain veneers, we prepare the teeth by removing a small amount of enamel, take impressions, and have the veneers made. Our on-site lab shortens the back-and-forth that usually comes with outside labs. At the bonding appointment, we check fit and color before permanently cementing each veneer and polishing the edges. For composite veneers, we shape and cure the resin directly on the tooth and finish it the same day. We offer nitrous oxide and oral sedation if dental visits make you anxious.
Caring for Veneers and Handling the Cost
Veneers are cared for much like natural teeth: brush twice daily, floss around them, and keep up with cleanings and exams. Avoid using your front teeth as tools — opening packaging, biting ice or hard candy — since that's how chips happen. If you clench at night, wearing a night guard protects your investment. Our hygienists will check the margins of your veneers at every cleaning.
We accept all major PPO insurance plans and self-pay patients, and we offer flexible payment plans. Cosmetic coverage varies by plan, so we'll go over what your benefits do and don't include before treatment begins, with no surprises.
If something goes wrong — a veneer chips, or a front tooth is injured — we offer emergency appointments, including same-day availability. Fort McCoy patients don't need a referral to be seen. Call us to schedule a veneer consultation with Dr. Salifu or Dr. Geris.
