Implant-Supported Dentures in Silver Springs

Loose dentures have a way of showing up at the worst moments — halfway through a sandwich, mid-sentence at a family gathering, or during a long afternoon when sore spots start to ache. For many of our Silver Springs patients, that daily unpredictability is the reason they start asking about implant-supported dentures. Instead of resting on the gums and relying on suction or adhesive, this type of denture anchors to dental implants placed in the jawbone, so the teeth stay where you put them.
An implant-supported denture is a full arch of replacement teeth that connects to a small number of dental implants — titanium posts placed into the jaw that function like tooth roots. Some designs snap on and off for cleaning, often called snap-in dentures, while others are fixed in place and removed only by your dentist. Both approaches share the same goal: stability that comes from the bone rather than from the gum tissue.
We place implants and restore them here at Ocala Dental Care, which keeps the whole process under one roof for Silver Springs patients. Our on-site dental lab is a meaningful part of that. Because dentures, crowns, and denture repairs can be fabricated and adjusted in-house, we aren't waiting on an outside lab for every small refinement. If a bite needs tuning or a denture needs a repair, we can often handle it the same day instead of asking you to make an extra trip.
Most people who are already wearing a complete denture, or who are facing the loss of a full arch, are worth evaluating. We also see Silver Springs patients who still have several failing teeth and want to plan ahead rather than cycle through repeated extractions and repairs. Candidacy comes down to the health of your gums and the amount of bone available to support implants.
If bone volume is limited, that doesn't automatically close the door. We offer bone grafting and sinus lift surgery to rebuild support in areas that have thinned after years of missing teeth. If gum disease is present, we treat that first with scaling and root planing, periodontal treatment, or periodontal surgery, because healthy tissue is the foundation everything else sits on. Your consultation includes an exam, imaging, and a frank conversation about which option — conventional dentures, partial dentures, implant-supported dentures, All-on-4, or full-arch implants — actually fits your mouth, your health, and your budget.
What the Process Looks Like
Treatment begins with planning. We map implant positions based on your bone, your bite, and the shape of the final denture, and we discuss sedation options up front — nitrous oxide or oral sedation are available for patients who feel uneasy about surgery. Any needed extractions, including surgical extractions, are performed by our team, so you aren't referred out and asked to start over with a new office.
Implants are then placed and given time to integrate with the bone. During healing, you won't go without teeth; a transitional denture keeps you functioning and looking like yourself. Once integration is confirmed, we take final records and your denture is fabricated and fitted to the attachments. For some patients, a Teeth in a Day approach allows a provisional set of teeth to be delivered at the time of implant placement, depending on what the exam and imaging show.
Here is what patients most often notice afterward:
- Chewing that feels secure enough for firmer foods
- No reliance on adhesive to hold the denture in place
- Less rocking and fewer gum sore spots
- A denture that doesn't shift while speaking
- Support for the jawbone, which a gum-borne denture doesn't provide
Aftercare, Insurance, and Getting Started
Implant-supported dentures still need regular care. Removable designs come out daily for cleaning, and the gum tissue underneath gets brushed as well. Fixed designs are cleaned around and beneath with the tools we'll demonstrate chairside. We provide implant maintenance and periodontal maintenance visits so the tissue around each implant stays healthy, and our hygienists monitor those sites at every cleaning. Attachments wear over time and are replaceable — that's expected, not a failure.
We accept all major PPO insurance plans and file claims as a general practice, and we welcome self-pay patients. Flexible payment plans are available to spread treatment across a manageable timeline, and we'll go over estimated coverage before anything begins.
Ocala Dental Care has served this area for more than 30 years, and Silver Springs residents are a steady part of our practice. Dr. Hussein Salifu and Dr. Marco Geris see patients of all ages, accept new patients without a referral, and offer emergency appointments when something can't wait. If you're curious whether implants are realistic for you, a consultation is the place to find out.
